Abstract

This chapter discusses electronic structure of transition metals. Low-temperature reconstruction, hydrogen induced rearrangement, surface states, Fermi surfaces of clean and hydrogensaturated tungsten W(110), and dispersion curve of W are illustrated. The chapter also presents a literature on theoretical investigation of the electronic structure of the ideal (001) surface of iridium (Ir) and platinum (Pt). Projected bulk band structure, surface states, resonances and local density of states of Ir are illustrated. Band structure of a five-layer Pt(001) film, and projected bulk band structure, and SS and SR bands along the principal symmetry directions of Pt are figured out. Final state energies E is plotted as a function of k|| from KRIPES.
