Introduction to Thermal Properties of Polymers

Abstract

This chapter gives an introductory account on thermal properties of polymers. The data presented here include the equilibrium and non-equilibrium process of the polymers present in different physical states. Phase transition temperatures like heat of transitions, glass transition and melting transition of polymers are given. In addition, calculation of enthalpy (H), entropy (S), and Gibbs function (G) are given. These data could be calculated from the knowledge of heat capacity and transition parameters of polymers from ATHAS data bank.
