Soft magnetic sintered and composite materials

Abstract

This chapter discusses on soft magnetic sintered and composite materials. Soft magnetic sintered materials are based on pure iron and iron alloys and the sintering process is utilized to achieve diffusion-bonded particles with a uniform distribution of alloying elements. Soft magnetic composite materials are characterized by consisting of pure iron particles each of which remains separated or partially separated by a continuous or semicontinuous barrier. This chapter also deals about sintered soft magnetic materials. Impurity levels, mechanical properties, magnetic properties, maximum flux density and physical properties of sintered soft magnetic materials . Composite soft magnetic materials are also discussed in this chapter. Impurity levels, resistivity, thermal conductivity, mechanical properties and magnetic properties of composite iron products are also illustrated. Applications of the magnetic materials are also given.
