9.2 Methods of measurernents of diffusion coefficients of hydrogen in metals

Abstract

This chapter presents information concerning the diffusion of hydrogen and/or its isotopes deuterium and tritium, in solid metals. Diffusion coefficients of hydrogen in metals are measured by direct and indirect methods. The direct method includes steady-state permeation, absorption/desorption methods, concentration profile methods, and diffusion couple methods without profile measurements. The indirect method includes relaxation methods and nuclear methods. The measurements using these methods are illustrated.
