7.2.1.3.2.1 Survey of the properties of the magnet system

Abstract

This chapter focuses on Co-Fe base magnet alloys with high cobalt (Co) content. The equilibrium phase diagram of the binary Co-Fe alloy system is given. Further, the chapter illustrates the magnetic behavior of Co-Fe alloy. It can be seen that the saturation magnetization decreases and the coercive force increases with an increase of the concentration of a third element. Phase constitution, crystal structure and lattice constants of some Co-Fe-Nb semihard magnets, which have been cold-drawn to a degree of 90% and afterwards annealed at various temperatures are tabulated.
