7.2.4.8 Specific heat

This chapter discusses electrical resistivity and specific heat of R₂Fe₁₄C alloys. The thermal variations of the real, ρ’, and imaginary, ρ”, parts of the electrical resistivities in R₂Fe₁₄C compounds with R = Sm, Er and Tm are plotted. The real parts, ρ’(T), increase continuously without any singularities. The imaginary parts, ρ”(T), may well give evidence of phase transitions. Anomalies in p”(T) found at spin reorientation temperatures in Er₂Fe₁₄C and Tm₂Fe₁₄C are shown. Magnetic specific heat of Lu₂Fe₁₄C and Lu₂Fe₁₄B around the Curie temperature is also figured out.
