Abstract

This chapter illustrates mechanical properties of pure iron (Fe). Young’s modulus of pure Fe as a function of temperature and relative variation of Young’s modulus in Fe with reduced magnetization are shown. Critical resolved shear stress at lower yield point in single crystal versus temperature and tensile stress-strain curves of polycrystalline zone-refined Fe are illustrated. Dependence of the lower yield stress on the average grain size in Fe and lower yield stress as a function of temperature in polycrystalline Fe are figured out. Recrystallized fraction versus time of annealing at different temperatures in pure Fe and grain growth after primary recrystallization for Fe specimens of different purity are demonstrated.
