Abstract

This chapter lists higher Miller-index surfaces of fcc crystals and hcp crystals. The tables for fcc crystals and hcp crystals include a short description and parameters of the in-plane surface structure while reference to the values of vertical-relaxations. Additional findings concerning the nature of structural phase transitions (reconstruction, melting, roughening) are given in the remarks. The fcc crystals include Ag, Al, Cu, Ni, Pt. The hcp crystals include Be, Cd, Co, Re, Ru, Sc, Ti, Y, Zn and Zr. The techniques used for the measurements include STM, LEED intensity analysis, He diffraction, X-ray diffraction, EELS, FIM, AES and LEED I-V. Vertical multilayer relaxations of bcc, fcc and hcp metals are tabulated. The metals include Ag, Al, Co, Cu, Fe, Ir, Mo, Na, Ni, Pb, Pd, Pt, Re, Rh, Ru, Sc, Ta, Ti, V, W, Zn, Zr. Structural parameters of the 1 x 2 reconstruction of the (110) surface of Au, Ir and Pt are tabulated. The surface to second and second to third layer changes of interplanar distances with respect to bulk is listed. The parameter B3 is the buckling in the third layer and is positive if the third layer atoms without a first layer atom on top are displaced upwards. Intensity of the half-order LEED beams for the W (100) surface is illustrated. Reconstruction of the W(001) and Ir(100) surface are plotted. The unrelaxed and relaxed Fe (211) surface shows the first layer in-plane registry shift of 0.24 Å and vertical multilayer relaxation.
