This chapter discusses photoemission and inverse photoemission of tungsten (W) which has a body-centered cubic structure with a lattice constant of 3.146 Å (T = 300K). Surface core level shifts of the W 4f7/2 level have been measured on the W(100), W(110) and W(111) surfaces as well as on the stepped W(310), W(320), and W(610) surfaces. The chapter tabulates binding energies of occupied surface states and unoccupied surface states on tungsten surfaces, and the surface core level shifts on tungsten surfaces (in eV) relative to the bulk W 4f7/2 level binding energy of 31.45 eV. High resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectra, normal emission photoemission spectra, inverse photoemission spectra, k-resolved inverse photoemission spectra, 4f7/2 core level spectra, and high resolution soft X-ray photoemission spectrum are presented to illustrate the photoemission and inverse photoemission phenomena in tungsten.
