This chapter contains illustrations for X-ray diffraction of surface structures of Si, Pb, Au/Si, Ge/Ge, S/Cu, Cl/Cu and CdTe/GaAs. Observed and calculated structure factors for Si( 111) 7 x 7 are presented in graphical form. Atomic model and numbering scheme of the unit cell of the Si(111) 7 x 7 structure and X-ray scans along the Pb(112) azimuth for various temperatures are illustrated. Values for the coherent position and coherent fraction for the gold (Au) data are tabulated. Photoelectron standing-wave yields are shown for Au/Si, and the experimental geometry for the reflectivity measurements during Ge deposition on Ge(111) is schematically presented. The reflected signal from Ge(111) during Ge deposition, and intensity of the (111) reflection during Ge deposition for two values of the perpendicular momentum transfer are illustrated. Plots against q of the integrated intensity distributions of the CTR along the [001] direction for one of the mosaic blocks of the cleaved NaCl(001) face, and fluorescence yield and reflectivtiy for 0.25MLS on Cu(001)p(2 x 2) versus photon energy are figured out. Experimental Patterson map built with 2 x 1 structure factors for CdTe/GaAs, model proposed for tellurium adsorption leading to (001) oriented CdTe, and projected model for the best fitted 2 x 1 unit cell derived from the diffraction data for CdTe/GaAs are presented. Refined atomic positions for Te atoms adsorbed on GaAs(001) are tabulated.
