8.1 Geometrical quantization

Abstract

This chapter discusses literature on magnetic depopulation and quantized conductance under geometrical quantization of lateral superlattices. Magneto transport measurements revealed SdH oscillations with a period non-linear in 1/B in sample A, reflecting the 1D character of a structure. In a quasi-dc conductivity of sample B, SdH oscillations also showed a deviation from a linear 1/B behaviour. Finally, a quasi-dc magneto transport of sample C showed SdH oscillations which did not follow 1/B. Source drain current vs. upper gate voltage at T = 1.2K and a voltage of 0.5V on a periodic gate is plotted. Derivative of source drain current with respect to upper gate voltage vs. upper gate voltage at T = 1.2K is plotted.
